Unfortunately, many people are affected by cancer and the usual methods, like chemotherapy, can’t heal them. The tumour cells continue dividing quickly and they can travel by the body affecting other organs and tissues.
The chemotherapy usually acts introducing apoptosis to the cells or they can produce that the cells cannot receive sings necessaries to the division, thanks to different methodologies. The drugs behaviour can be more effective if chemotherapy is combined with radiotherapy. On the other hand, the chemotherapy’s drugs can be harmful to healthy cells. Meaning, the drugs can do the same effect to tumour cells than to normal cells and it is one of the reasons for the second effects.
A new generation of studies are introducing nanoparticles to the tumour’s world. That kind of therapy is based in nanoparticles’ characterization with drugs on the inside. These particles of less than a hundred nanometres, should release the drugs in specific parts, to attack directly in the tumour’s cells.
